Game Introduction

Summoners War is a popular mobile turn-based RPG developed by Com2uS. Released in 2014, the game has garnered over 100 million downloads worldwide and has a thriving esports scene.

The premise of Summoners War revolves around summoning and collecting various monsters to form your army. You take on the role of a summoner who has discovered the Sky Arena, an ancient battlefield where summoners test their strength against one another. After customizing your avatar, you summon and recruit an army of monsters with different attributes and skills. Your goal is to assemble the greatest army by summoning and powering up new monsters, then use them to clear Campaign levels and conquer PvP Arena battles.

With over 1500 unique monsters to collect, Summoners War features one of the most expansive in-game rosters among RPGs. Monsters are divided into 5 main attributes - Fire, Water, Wind, Light and Dark. Each attribute has its own strengths and weaknesses in a rock-paper-scissors style system, so building a strategically balanced team is key. The game features vibrant anime-style graphics and intricate skill animations that bring battles to life.

Game Features

Summoners War stands out for its strategic depth despite being a mobile RPG. Battles take place automatically but victory depends greatly on your team composition and rune builds. Every monster has a unique skill set to take advantage of. Runes can be equipped to further enhance your monsters’ capabilities, like increasing HP, attack damage or critical hit chance. Strategizing the perfect team synergy and tune builds provides hours of engaging theory crafting.

The rune system itself has incredible variability - from different rune sets to the main stat type, substats and upgrade rolls. Grinding for better runes to empower your army drives player progression in the end-game. Besides PvP, diverse PvE content like Cairos Dungeon runs, Raids and Rift Beasts offer rune farming opportunities.

Another standout feature is the Guild system, which allows players to join guilds for guild wars, sieges and world boss raids. Working with guildmates to coordinate offenses and defenses provides satisfying multiplayer co-op gameplay. Top guilds even compete professionally in international tournaments.

For new players, following the scenario maps provides lots of guidance and rewards in the early game. Overall, Summoners War offers immense depth through its strategic team building, rune system and multiplayer content. Frequent updates and events also keep the game feeling fresh for its fans.

Game Review

I’ve played Summoners War extensively over 4 years as a mid-game player and wish to provide some closing thoughts. The progression curve and gameplay loop have kept me thoroughly engaged throughout.

Early game was filled with adventure as I blazed through scenarios, leveled up my starter monsters and explored different battle strategies. The rune system was simple to grasp but had long-term depth. My early goals were focused on assembling my Giants B10 team to start grinding for runes.

Mid-game is when progression became more incremental. My play sessions focused more on tuning my PvE teams for Cairos Dungeons, Raids, Rift Beasts and Arena. Rune requirements to clear content were much steeper. But each new milestone felt incredibly satisfying, whether it was speed-tuning my Giants team or breaking past Fighter rank in Arena.

While PvE occupied most of my time, what brought the biggest adrenaline rush was competing in Real-Time Arena against other players. Testing my strategy against human opponents rather than AI provided heart-thumping excitement with every match. Even after losing, I was motivated to re-strategize my team and rune builds.

My favorite part of the mid-game was undoubtedly Guild Siege battles every week. Collaborating with guildmates to take down high-level bases required intricate planning and teamwork. The guild community kept me actively engaged with the game even during dry periods of progression.

As I now transition into late-game, my play sessions are more sporadic but the depth continues to reward. There are still new units to build and PvP milestones like Guardian Arena rank to achieve through finely-tuned runes and strategy. Summoners War has offered one of the most fulfilling gameplay loops I’ve experienced in over 20 years of gaming. The progression, the combat depth, and the multiplayer interaction have kept me steadily engaged throughout.
